John B Wilson

Private First Class

Bronze Star

Saipan

This photograph of John B. Wilson was taken on Maui in the Fall of 1944 after the 4th Marine Division Award Ceremony.

While stationed at Camp Pendleton CA John Wilson obtained leave and traveled to Pennsylvania to get married. Below are two letters written to his wife, the first enroute to Saipan and in the second he reluctantly notifies his wife he has been wounded. According to his son John W. Wilson, he feels that if the Government hadn't notified her he would not have told her he had been hit.
