Sgt Leon M Padelskas

1923 - 2007

There were 3 Memorial Services held for Sgt Leon Padell, the first was in Tampa Florida where he passed away Sept 8 2007, the service was held the day before his 84th birthday on Sept 13 2007. Next some of his ashes were spread on Iwo Jima on top of Mt Suribachi next to where the flag was raised in March of 2008 by Harlan Glenn and filmed for the TV Documentary "BATTLE RATS: Iwo Jima" where the ash ceremony was featured at the end of the show. The final memorial and burial was at St Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury Mass in the Padell Family Plot.
